Create Your Emotional Environment for Inner Peace

To create and sustain inner peace, your emotional environment needs to be balanced and neutral. In this article, I share six methods that will help you to live in an emotional state of gratitude and peace.

Daily gratitude list – Writing out a daily gratitude list is a transformational exercise. It helps to keep you focused on what you are grateful for in your life rather than being bogged down by the negative things that pop up for you. You can do this any time of the day or night. You may have a particular time you can commit to, which is the most important thing. The key to the success is to do it daily, or as often as you can. When your mind focuses on positive things, it helps to create more positive things in your life. You are resonating at a higher frequency and can attract positive things.

Exercise Routine – I strongly recommend you create an exercise routine that works for you and your schedule. It could be as simple as walking three to five times a week for 30 minutes (even better if you do it daily). It could be more extensive with attending classes, hiring a personal trainer, or other physical activity. Exercising is not only good for your physical body; it is amazing for your emotional body as well. Working out helps to move the energy through your body and to clear your mind. It releases endorphins making you feel better.

Self-care - We often have a lot of responsibility in our lives and don’t always make time to take care of ourselves. Create a self-care routine you love and are excited about. It might be getting regular massages. It could be getting manicures and pedicures. Maybe you like yoga or reading books. There might be a local meditation group you join. Whatever it is, start a routine and make it a priority in your schedule. When you take care of yourself, you will feel better emotionally.

What other people think of me is none of my business - One of the best things that I learned is that what other people think of me is none of my business. This was one of the most challenging things for me to take in and process. I had been a people pleaser my entire life, wanting people to think I was worthy and loveable. What I had to learn is the love and worthiness had to come from within me first to be able to know and feel the love of others fully. I had to come to terms with the fact not everyone was going to like me, and that was okay. What I had to keep in check with myself is being authentic. If was truthful and authentic in my words and actions, then I could have peace of mind of what others think doesn’t matter. If I was doing or saying something that wasn’t truly me, then I had to examine it and change it for myself, not because others wanted me to. Think about people who may judge you or have opinions of you that you don’t like very much. Now tell yourself what they think of you is none of their business. Keep practicing this until it becomes natural.

Empath “protection” – blue light/Archangel Michael - As empaths, we feel what others feel. Often times we are not aware the emotions we are experiencing are not actually our own feelings, so we internalize them and make them our own. I have a favorite practice that I do daily and has helped me to protect my energy field before I come into contact with other people. I invoke Archangel Michael and his blue shield of light to surround my body, to maintain my energy, keeping out energy seen and unseen. I imagine a blue sphere of light around my body. When you first wake up, you can do this invocation, so it becomes a daily practice and you will be ready to interact with people without taking on their emotions, including those of people in your home.

Essential Oils Different scents and smells can trigger unique emotions and feelings within us, as well as memories within our brains. Smells can affect our physiology. Choosing essential oils, fragrant plants, and fragrant candles specifically based on their own unique properties will enhance how we respond to our emotional environment. I recommend using the oils by diffusing them into your space using an oil diffuser. You can use oils separately or together. Typically, you will only need a few drops of oil in the diffuser to produce a beautiful olfactory environment. Try using different oils and see which ones you like best. Some scents will resonate better with you than others.
